I am an Associate Professor of Biometry and Bioinformatics in the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Biology, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Tokyo. I have a joint appointment with the Agricultural Biology Major in the Faculty of Agriculture. My research focuses on quantitative genetics and phenomics, with applications in animal and plant breeding. I began my career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before moving to Virginia Tech as an Assistant and then Associate Professor with tenure. I joined the University of Tokyo in January 2025 and am a faculty member in the Laboratory of Biometry and Bioinformatics. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I worked on kernel methods for predicting complex traits in animals and plants.
